I believe you can tune out most of the noise and live a much more meaningful investing life by practicing the art of not selling. Staying the course is the closest thing to a sure path to see your portfolio filled with outstanding winners over time. You just have to let them get there.

To understand why holding your winners is so important, one of the most impressive research pieces I came across over the years is the work done by Blackstar Funds, via Meb Faber.

They have reviewed the historical distribution of 8,000 stocks trading on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ over 23 years (1983-2006). The results? 25% of all stocks were responsible for all of the gains.

Faz muito sentido... mas como harmonizar estes ativos vencedores com o BS? Se vc deixar o portifólio concentrar naturalmente, vc raramente fará novos aportes àquele ativo.  Vcs têm alguma estratégia pra contrabalançar isso?  Claro, estou trabalhando com a hipótese de uma distribuição equilibrada dos objetivos no BS.

estude o BS para saber o q tem nele

agora esta mudança pode fazer sentido para vc mas vai tornar tb mais dificil manter pq os winners vao virar uma parte maior do patrimonio tornando mais dificil mante-los

mas a sua pergunta tb mesmo q nao faça esta mudança
eh respondida naturalmente
vc nao precisa aportar eles crescem sozinho

@André14 no final das contas, essa é uma preocupação "por antecipação", mais teórica que prática. Se você está muito bem diversificado, inclusive em renda fixa, é provável que os aportes num mesmo ativo de renda variável ao longo da vida possam ser contados nos dedos de uma mão. Faz o cálculo, vai chegar a essa conclusão. E se pretender comprar imóveis com o tempo, serão ainda menos aportes "repetidos". 

No final das contas, tudo isso é psicológico. Se você continuar aportando, tiver bom senso na escolha dos ativos e não vender, o resto são detalhes de pouca importância.

Quando surgiu essa discussão, alguns colegas sugeriram aportar de forma híbrida, ou seja, em um mês faz o aporte no que está mais para trás e, no seguinte, faz o aporte selecionando o método "aportar por aportes". Se te der mais #pas acho uma maneira válida de aportar nos ativos supostamente "mais descontados" e, no período seguinte, aportar nos destaques da carteira (que seriam indiretamente penalizados por terem se valorizado).

Mas essa questão de acertar só uma vez não seria bem relativa, ou seja, não depende do valor do seu aporte?

Ex: Se seu aporte é 2.000,00 por mês, tendo 200 ativos, acertar 1 ativo seria suficiente?

Mais uma prova que o que enriquece é o aporte, pois se esse seu aporte for de 10.000,00 aí as coisas mudam de figura.

Acertar um ativo é figura de linguagem. Se você tiver apenas empresas lucrativas, a maioria tende a continuar lucrativa e a dar retorno bom (não excepcional, mas mediano). Mesmo uma ou outra que piore ainda pode dar algum retorno.

Quando se fala em "só precisa acertar uma", a ideia é que uma só que seja excepcional puxa muito a média da carteira pra cima e compensa várias ruins ou mais ou menos. Não é que só a empresa excepcional vai dar retorno.

Até porque nada garante que vai ter uma empresa excepcional na sua carteira e não é isso também que vai destruir seu retorno no longo prazo. Mesmo um retorno mediano já é bom o suficiente. 

Olha o exemplo de uma empresa excepcional. É uma exceção mesmo dentre as excepcionais, mas mostra como vender pode prejudicar o retorno da carteira. Um único aporte de 100 dólares nessa aqui (não são vários aportes, um único mesmo) teria virado 1,5 milhão de dólares depois de 39 anos.
