Me lembrou da discussão aqui: tenha um diploma porque o mercado exige, mas saiba que isso não é garantia nenhuma de que você sabe alguma coisa. 
E acho que tem vários paralelos em outras áreas em que a sociedade acha que "você deve investir nisso, comprar aquilo, lutar pelo aposentadoria pública, privada etc." No final das contas, é melhor não discutir, concordar com as pessoas, mas fazer o seu de acordo com a sua consciência.
