An Idea to Those Who Work with Languages (MARKETING IDEA)

It's a great idea. I'll try this. Today I usually walk my dog and speak alone with me simulating conversations. Your idea it's a good exercise to try as well. 

I remember seeing something like that in a post on Facebook or whatever. The idea was to write the things' names in a post-it, then glue them around the house. You'd rather spend long times at home then outside, so it's more likely you'd see them there.

I don't know if your idea is a doable one for a series of reasons. Would it be legal to put signs around the city? How much would it cost, for what return? Would it be really effective?

On the other hand, post-its signs on your fridge, oven, couch, wardrobe seems a lot cheaper, more practical and you could do it right now.

By the way, congratulations for your post. It's not easy to not be afraid of making mistakes, and you're on the right way, having ideas, showing them and being open to suggestions and corrections. #GOTHEREANDSPEAK

My english is so bad, but i understood everything in your post, for me it's perfect, kkkk.
I already talked about this with my teacher, i think that it's a great way to learn because it's about real stuff. In fact, after the pandemic we will try to go to supermarket, for example and just speack english. I think that this kind of exercises will help me a lot.

I`ve studied the english language for most of my life, and i think you just put into words one of the most underrated tactics for learning any language. Although I used it in a slightly different manner.

In my opinion,  "walking and naming"  is a great practice strategy, but maybe we all should evolve it into "Walking and Thinking", literally, just take a day, walk into your town, but instead of just Name things, you should just look at everything and make a mental observation of what you are looking at, just like a child. 

For example, if you look at an outdoor, notice its colors, what do you think of them? And what about the message of the Ad? What do you think about the company? the product? 

Start answering these questions in the desired language. And with time, you should take a grasp into the most fundamental concepts of its gramatics.

(Maybe this tactic that i used is for more advanced students, I Really don`t know, but if you are starting, you will notice that some of the things you said in your mind are wrong, it`s up to you to make your own research, and correct your flaws, so you can master the language that you desire)

Edit1: Also, English forums, like reddit or something about your favorite hobbies. (This helps A LOT).

@Banzeh this is a perfect english! I hope some day get there. I need to improve my writing but I confess that I don't practice much because of shame. I need to get better in this point

I'm going to answer the "I confess that I don't practice much because of shame" part.

Let me tell you a secret, something that happens more often than most people would like to admit. In most of the real life conversations with non-native speakers, some kind of mistake happens, maybe a wrong pronunciation, a wrong adjective, or something like that. And you know what happens?

I`m not gonna lie to you, they DO care. But here is the surprise, they care in a good way. If they don`t understand, they will help you figure what you are trying to say, and then you will laugh with them, and say "Well, Thank you, I got a bit lost" and that's it.  (This situation happened with me in Europe, in the USA, and Asia, and it's always the same, PEOPLE WILL HELP YOU) 

Your biggest enemy in the conversation is yourself. There is no problem making mistakes, there is a problem being too much anxious or nervous, this will sabotage your ability to think for yourself, just like most things, and you will kill the conversation. All by yourself. All you have to do is accept that you are going to make mistakes, and that's it.

Don't feel ashamed, practice.

And remember, just ask for help, people aren`t monsters that will devour you just because you did a mistake.
  

I prefer to explain to myself something that happened to me or something I intend to do. This way I don't practice just vocabulary, but overall conversation skills.

By the way, I think he is Brazilian because his accent is perfect.

To all of you learning English: the saying "the heaviest weight in gym is the door handle to leave home" applies to languages: the hardest bit is to leave shame behind and just start talking. Be sure, native speakers don't care about mistakes and actually feel flattered one  is learning their language 

In my case I’m trying to learn German already living in Germany and I can tell you is fucking hard! One thing I do is that I try to read everything I see while I’m in the streets(not much now as we’re in a lockdown). Every time I have to face a situation where I will need to speak German I have to practice before and this sucks! Hope that soon I will be more comfortable and everyday is a day to learn something new, and repeat, repeat, repeat, as must as you can. Anki is your friend!

Deutsch ist zwar verdammt schwierig, aber die Mühe lohnt sich wirklich. Gib nicht auf! Auch ich hatte diese Erfahrung in Deutschland und versuchte immer noch, fließend zu werden. Wenn du willst, poste auch hier Sachen in dieser verdammt herausfordernden Sprache.

@JohnnyMagruder haha I haven't tought about the "legal part" of the ideia, thanks for elucidating this. Perhaps flyers or posters can be better. Anyway, good points! Feel free to use the idea @Gregory_, but you should see if it is really that viable.
