"Fidelity Investments, the mutual fund behemoth with trillions in assets under management, performed a study to determine which of their accounts had done the best. They were trying to determine the traits or attributes of their investors that led to the best performance. The study’s conclusions were very interesting. What they found was that the investor accounts that were completely forgotten about by their account holders ended up with the best performance. They didn’t tinker with them. They didn’t trade in and out of them. They simply forgot they existed so they didn’t make any changes in their portfolios.

Vanguard found similar results when they compared the performance of retirement investors against a benchmark that was consistent with their initial portfolio asset allocations. The investors who did nothing were more likely to earn returns similar to the benchmarks, while those who took a more hands-on, active approach to portfolio management by making moves based on market developments, tended to perform much worse.

Another study looked into the trading activity of nearly 70,000 households. They discovered that the 20 percent of investors who traded their accounts the most actively earned an average return of more than 7 percent lower than the average household in the study.

Similar studies performed in other countries have shown that these results are fairly consistent across different markets. Simply put, the more often you trade the higher the probability of incurring worse results from a combination of increased costs and poor market timing decisions.

...

Most of the time the answer will be the same: do nothing."

Todos aqui devem conhecer a carteira do Macaco Zé do Insta. Monte bull.shit zoeira.
