I think this is a great idea, because only practice leads to fluency.
But to train without a supervision only make your flaws take root, so if anyone sees a wrong way of saying things, please help up your colleagues

(i'm pretty sure this post of mine sounds like a drunken child speaking, so any help is welcome)

I believe that this can be a huge step for this community, once building up knowledge in English can open up bastter.com doors for a broader public.

I think the great goal of challenge is to help forum mates improve english skills, so we could start from:

Never beg pardon for english mistyping

That's a very good idea. I endorse it. If we take stocks as subject, let's use english then. Might help in that travell to Berkshire to admire its profitability - Or should I "say" YTILIBATIFORP ??? HAHAHAH, sorry, just kiddin', actually, that's AWESOME!

Got it?

@CdeC

It actually doesn’t sound like a drunken child  :)  - and I thoroughly agree with you about practicing leading to fluency, and not being afraid of making mistakes and accepting corrections is key to learning anything, languages included. By the way, it would be closer to native usage to leave out the “a” before “supervision”, as - differently from Portuguese - articles are only used before nouns in specific circumstances, such as when the noun is mentioned earlier in another sentence. The wording “flaw taking roots” is not only adequate but a rather good metaphor for the technical term “fossilisation”.

Language is not the only limitation, if Bastter.com wants to have people from around the world, the Tributary/Legal system, and many different types of retirement accounts, is a big topic of discussion.

My Suggestion would be to hire an new moderator from the United States and/or Canada, with a vast knowledge on 401 K, Roth , Roth IRA's, there is also College Fund Account you can create too, that I remember from reading some US blogs.

Cheers and gl to everyone

@Henrique59 and that's a pretty solid feedback... Nice!

My two cents on the topic:
To open Bastter to a boarder audience it would be a chanllenge, a nice one... But, if the boss wants to at least show the philosophy, I guess he wouldn't need all this. Well... he is the one to decide, but for now... for pratice sessions it's great as it is.

Let me tell you guys what I learned long time ago with one of the owners of a great bank and some shopping malls

he told me, when you strat something you never know what will hapen and from where the money will come, no matter how many hours you spend planning, all you can do is the best you cand do and learn through the journey

so we will start to transform this area to english
what will happen, who will come or nobody will come, I don't know

But I know I will improve my english writting skills
And I know we will do our best

@Henrique59

I think that would be good but I don't think that is necessary. I was a registered broker with Series 7 and SIE exams. You can even find me in the broker check system

These exams plus everything I have read and learn gave me sufficient knowledge about the US tributary and legal system and the different types of securities and accounts

Honestly I do "believe" in this kind of thing. It happened to me, more than once. It's my will to learn stuff randomly that gave me my first and my last job. And... looking backward, wow... 15 years ago. Still working with IT, on a different position... time flies...

We don't write anything about other types of accounts( as 401k) or about taxes for us residents cuz we don't have this "kind" of customer today.

@Bastter honestly, you don't have to be sorry for any mistake you make trying to exercise your english. Keep practicing without any fear of judgements and you will see the results soon!

@SandroRoda don't say "my English is very bad". Prefer to write "I have poor English skills" or "my English skills are bad" or something like this.

The first case is a more formal case, and the last case a more informal one.
